Shanghai Yu-Life Toastmasters Club Meetings #455
meeting #455 @
This is another hot Sunday. Most of our active members are here today. It's so good to be together in the meeting.
Yoland, act as our SAA. It is her first time SAA. She handles it very well. She first announces the meeting rules and then leads an great group game - counting or clapping at 3. When it is done in English, it is hard. Many people fail in the first try.
Our President@Henry shows up in his usual style - very elegantly introduces TI and Yu-Life using his own experience. He encourages each and every one to actively takes part in the meeting and learns the best. The meeting starts.
Peter is the TMD. He knows the process very well and quick briefs the meeting agenda and invites the evaluation team to give the meeting officer introduction.
TTM @Maggie prepares 8 questions, and she innovates a new method to choose the questions: the speaker decides the question of the next speaker. Very interesting rule. Eight people talk in the Table Topics session - it is about membership, but not limited to Toastmasters membership. There are good thoughts in the carefully prepared questions.
TTE@Sophia is the first time TTE. She has done a good job though. She evaluates TTM and each speaker. She recalls the questions, points out the good parts, and also gives constructive advices. This is a standard TTE. I would like to hear some summary in the future.
We have three Prepared speakers: Sohpia - L1P2, Vikki Zhu - L1P1, and Lanlan Geng - L4P1. Each one of them has delivered something special and excellent. Sophia's speech is about important decision in her life. Her stories are attractive, her style is calm. Vikki's performance is totally different. She uses a lot of vocal variety and gestures to vividly tell us her own change in life. Lanlan's topic is a useful information for the audience - how to set up a company. It is so interesting that many people starts to discuss about really doing so. Lanlan loses control of time.
IE@Peter and @Joker evaluate the speakers with great demonstration and inside observation. Some of their comments are generally useful in encouraging future speakers, like turning negative observation to postive actions, etc.
Our GE@xws leads the diligent evaluation team:
Timer@Calin: calm and considerate timer - clear rule introduction, detailed summary. Try not to ring the bell.
Ah-Counter@Grace: very clear voice in the meeting to get the attention of the audience. She carefully notes all the numbers of the speakers. Great care.
Grammarian@Henry: choose a good word of today - off the hook. His expalantion and example are very helpful for us to understand and remeber this phrase. It helps many people using the word of today.
We have a special session - new member ceremony. We have three new member since July: Maggie, Vikki and Sophia. Their mentors are Peter, Joker and xws, respectively. We wish them all the best in the Toastmasters journey in Yu-Life club.
Our VPPR@Carol once again sponsors a very cute toy (I think it is a cat?) as the best Table Topics speaker trophy. The winner is @Evans - a sunny girl who really enjoys the stage.
Looking forward to our next meeting - new member ceremony. Stay tuned.
Thanks to our photographer @Ms. Sang.
