Shanghai Yu-Life Toastmasters Club Meetings #470
meeting #470 @
It is rather cold and almost raining. Yolanda and James are already at door when I show up. We chat about how James could benefit in the club activity. Yes, people should all grow in our club, in Toastmasters meetings.
Our SAA@Lanlan and @Yolanda prepare a double-humorous talk show that makes boys and girls laugh a lot. This is positive learning environment.
Our elected president@Maggie CHEN now really grasps the facts from Toastmasters home page and remember the numbers correctly. She could make it her own style.
Our TMD@Carol comes to the stage with delightful smile and opens the meeting with winter theme. She fluently put the agenda out using great voice. The audience are ready to take part in the meeting. How effective.
TTM@Lisa likes the Table Topics. She always makes it a fun for all the impromptu speakers. This time she first writes the keywords for winter on the board and ask the speakers to choose a topic. This greatly eases the nervousness of being asked an unexpected question. So nine people share their winter stories and ideas without much problem. TMD provides a supportive session.
Maggie is TTE. This time I really see her using a lot of examples to demonstrate the shining points and improvements. Especially that her gestures becomes natural and meaningful. To evaluate 10 persons in 8 minutes is not easy as TTE, and she has done a good time control and finished punctually. Evaluation is a place to achieve excellent for both speakers and evaluators.
We have three prepared speeches from our club members: Grace Huo (L1-1), James ZHANG (L1-1) and Maggie CHEN (L2-2). Whether they are doing an Icebreaker or an advance speech, I see that they are all well-prepared without using scripts, and fluently make the performance withing required time. Empowered with ideas from their individual evaluators - Lanlan, Vikki and me, they will become better communicators.
Last but not least, Lisa and I as the double GE leads the TAG team giving an new style evaluation of the meeting. Lisa stands for shining points and she uses a wonderful series positive words, and I point out what I think could be better in the future in the meeting and for individuals.
Timer@Amanda: Very good time control and makes our meeting on schedule. She wins the best meeting role without doubt.
Ah-Couter@Jason: he is quick learner in that he also draws vivid pictures on board to show his observation. He is also humorous about the King and Queen.
Grammarian@Cecilia: our first English teacher as a guest, she has very calm style on the stage. I don't see that she is the first grammarian at all because she introduces the rules and gives reports very professional. Very talented.
The meeting is on schedule - thanks to all the meeting attendees.
Thanks to our VPPR@Carol for bringing a fantastic toy for our best Table Topics Speaker - Ryder JIANG. Hope next time you are the winner.
Looking forward to our next meeting. Stay tuned.
