Shanghai Yu-Life Toastmasters Club Meetings #471
meeting #471 @
It is a warm winter morning. People are early in the bookstore when I am in. Several guests arrive.
Our SAA@James makes the famous count 7 game. I am too good at it while doing it in English sounds crazy.
Our president@Henry comes this time to show his last president talk for 2023. He wishes all the best for Toastmasters' 100 birthday in 2024 and kicks off the meeting with firm voice and joyous smile.
Our TMD@Peter once again shows his unique style on the stage to make all calm and moves the meeting in a humorous but smooth way. We do have a very tight schedule today with three prepared speeches (one of them is 12 - 15 minutes) and one sharing from our area director Lily. The performance and control from TMD is important. Peter has done a good job.
We have not only one TTM but two - double J: Jason and James. The two brave young men hold a very interesting Table Topics session. Jason stands for the year 2023, and James for 2024. Their questions are well-prepared and full of insight for the past and for the future. 7 people share their stories about 2023 and wishes for 2024.
Calin is is TTE. She always show her calm and encouragement in the evaluation. I find that her ability to tell something sincerely is amazing. The angle that she praise people is very special. This makes her comments last long in my memory.
Area director Lily shares her important topics for our club - how to be a contest judge. She has a well-prepared process. First, she hands out the judge's form to let us learn the criteria. Second, she asks us to form groups to watch a champion speech from 2023 world international speech contest. Last, she selects some judges to show off their evaluation. I learn the way judge to be from her sharing.
We have three prepared speeches from our diligent members: Lisa LIU, Sophia SU, Grace HUO. They are working towards professional speakers in their pathways.
Last but not least, Maggie as GE leads the TAG team giving a impressive evaluation of the meeting.
Timer@Ryder: good time control and gets help from his father.
Ah-Counter: I am. I find "and" "so" starts to be the main filler word in our team.
Grammarian@Selina: taking the on site and makes very good use of the meeting role. Speaking on the stage confidently and show her talented way of seeing how to use English in our speech.
The meeting is on schedule - thanks to all the meeting attendees.
Thanks to our VPPR@Carol for bringing a fantastic toy for our best Table Topics Speaker - Ryder JIANG. Hope next time you are the winner.
Next meeting will in 2024 with our splendid new club officers. Looking forward to our next meeting. Stay tuned.
